On-Line Conference Announcement
September 21-22, 2021, 9:00AM — 5:00PM
You are cordially invited to attend an on-line, two-day conference featuring a variety of technical presentations and workshops on topics of interest to State radiation control program staff and environmental protection professionals engaged in work to protect patients, workers, and the general public from unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation. The program addresses medical use of radiation, regulatory aspects of radiation control, and radiological emergency planning and preparedness. This meeting is hosted by the Delaware Radiation Control Program. The Mid-Atlantic States Radiation Control Programs have been rotating the hosting duties for these conferences for many years. Come one, come all who are interested in radiation protection, and join us for our 20th anniversary conference!

The conference is now open on the Baltimore-Washington Chapter, Health Physics Society website, BWCHPS.org. Day One of the conference, September 21, will feature a full day of technical presentations across a variety of radiation protection topics. Day Two, September 22, will feature workshop sessions. There are registration fees, which vary by session. The Agenda for the Conference identifies the session times, presenter, presentation, abstract and presenter biosketch for all sessions.
Day One, Plenary Session will feature a full day of technical presentations across a variety of radiation protection topics. Example topics include hospital radiation therapy, shielding, emergency preparedness, response, civil support teams, decommissioning of nuclear power plants, protective actions guides and other information of particular interest to governmental and nongovernmental officials.
This session will run from 9 am to 5pm with a lunch break from 12-1pm.
This session is open to all.
Day One registration fee is $10 for state radiation control program employees of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania . Day One registration for all other professionals is $20, which includes a one-year membership in the Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the Health Physics Society (BWCHPS) with access to the Chapter’s events and resources.

Day Two, Session One will present the Radiological Emergency Planning resources available to state and local governments. This workshop will help States to build and sustain radiological emergency preparedness, response and recovery capabilities, with presentations by federal partners and non-profit organizations: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Rad Responder, U.S. Department of Homeland Security National Urban Security Technology Laboratory (NUSTL) Guidance Documents, International Atomic Energy Agency Guidance for Medical Physicists, the FEMA Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS) program, and more.
This session will run from 9 am to 12 noon.
This session is open to all.
Day Two, Session One Registration Fee is $10.

Day Two, Session Two is an X-Ray Inspection Workshop concentrating on lessons learned from performing work remotely during the pandemic. This session will be conducted by the X-ray inspection program staff for the Mid-Atlantic states DE, MD, & NJ, and the Commonwealth of PA.
This session will run from 1 pm – 5 pm.
This session is open to all.
Day Two, Session Two Registration Fee is $10.

For your reference the Conference organizers have placed of copy of the ground rules for participation in the Conference. These grounds rules are entitled, “Instructions for Moderators.” Moderators will conduct the Conference sessions according to these Instructions.
